A postpartum doula is someone who tends to the informational, emotional, and physical needs of a postpartum parent and family. Postpartum doulas are expertly trained in postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, infant care, family changes, and providing non-judgmental and evidence-based support to your entire family.
A full spectrum doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to their client before conception, during pregnancy and childbirth, and through the early postpartum period. The benefit to hiring a full spectrum doula is improved rapport and continuity of care.
Doulas are not medical professionals. A doula offers emotional and non-medical support during childbirth, while a midwife is a trained medical professional who can provide primary care and medical assistance during pregnancy and childbirth. Many expectant parents choose to have both a doula and a midwife as part of their birth team to ensure comprehensive support and care during the childbirth process.
A postpartum doula and a nanny have distinct roles and purposes in supporting families after the birth of a child. A postpartum doula provides non-medical, holistic support to new parents during the postpartum period, focusing on the physical and emotional recovery of the mother, facilitating bonding with the baby, offering breastfeeding assistance, and providing guidance on newborn care and family adjustment. In contrast, a nanny primarily focuses on the care of the infant or child, attending to their daily needs such as feeding, diapering, and naps, without the same emphasis on supporting the mother's postpartum well-being or offering guidance on parenting and family dynamics. While both roles are valuable, a postpartum doula's role is broader and includes nurturing the entire family unit during the post-birth transition.

I'm very interested in tarot and enjoy collecting different decks. When deciding on a name for my business, I wanted something unique to my personality and values. The cups suit in the tarot deck is associated with emotion, intuition, and relationships. The queen card represents femininity, motherhood, and maturity. Together, the Queen of Cups card represents empathy, loyalty, compassion, and unconditional love. When I pulled this card during a reading for myself, I realized it perfectly embodied everything I hope for myself and this business.
